Mariko's Birthday

Here are some fun pics from this past weekend in San Francisco for Mariko's Birthday!

The Holiday Scuffle is HERE!

Happy Turkey Day Tomorrow!!! I am looking forward to hanging out with Gerrit and his family on Thursday. His sister and I do the Stockton Turkey Trot for charity every year, so this year we are walking since Karen is preggars. It will be nice to be able to chat and catch up while we are walking. After the race we are heading to Gerrit's parents house to help his mom prepare for the big feast and wait for the boys to get home from golfing. Friday I'm driving home to my Grandma's to have ANOTHER thanksgiving with my family. I'm really looking forward to spending some time with my grandma and cooking with her.

Oh, how my days are filling up! The last few weeks have been crazy but the next few are getting even worse. Although I am still looking forward to some holiday cheer. I have done absolutely no shopping for Christmas yet so I am feeling a little behind and stressed out about it. Every year my family does a gift exchange, where at thanksgiving we draw a name and only buy a present for that person. The funny thing is that everyone buys presents for one another anyways! So this year I'm suggesting no gift exchange! I'm thinking of making gift baskets and knitting scarfs. Happy Holidays!

Being a Graphic Designer

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I've been super busy at work. Anyways here is a funny video that pretty much sums up my everyday life and struggles at work! Pretty funny. If you don't laugh, and I've done design work for you before, your probably one of these people. Here it is...

Scooby Doo where are you?

So this year for Halloween we really struggled on what we should dress up as. We weren't going to our usual drunken fiasco country party this year but were going to a party at my friend Snyders. Supposedly everyone dressed up last year and the turnout was great. Since we always take Bella with us to Snyders we decided to not only dress up in a couple this year but also include Bella! She was a great Scooby!

How time flies

Well I am looking forward to this weekend for a couple of reasons. First I get to sleep in tomorrow! Yea! Second Gerrit, Bella and I are going to a friends Halloween party as Fred, Daphne and Scooby Doo which I went to the goodwill today for and got some great outfits. And last but not least, Saturday is my 5 year anniversary with Gerrit. I can't believe it's been that long already! Crazy.

Since Gerrit has a test he has to have turned in by 7pm Saturday he is going to be busy studying all night tonight, and taking the test tomorrow. So unfortunately the celebration will have to wait till Sunday.

So today for my Grateful Friday I am going to write a few things I love about Gerrit.
I am grateful for Gerrit...
knowing how to fix anything I break around the house.
making me laugh, all day, every day.
always pushing himself to be a better person (in his career, relationships, and life in general)
being so active and encouraging me to do so also.
just being Gerrit!

Words of wisdom, Drink this...

You can learn a lot more from listening than you can from talking. Find someone with whom you don't agree in the slightest and ask them to explain themselves at length. Then take a seat, shut your mouth, and don't argue back. It's physically impossible to listen with your mouth open.

P.S. I got this from my morning coffee Starbucks cup. Thought I should share.

Grateful Friday

Today I am grateful for...

1. Getting to see Gerrit's Sister and her husband Chris and all the hospitality they give us when we come to visit. Also that Karen is pregnant! I can't wait to see the little him/her.

2. Hanging out with my great friend Jessica this weekend for her birthday. She is a great person and I'm honored to have her as my friend.

3. Getting to cook my mom's lasagna recipe on Sunday for my LAMBS meeting on Monday night. I love cooking because it gives me great memories of my mom.

4. My Dad puppy sitting for Bella. And for her being such a great dog.

5. Reconnecting with old friends recently.

Have a good weekend!

Mather Mud Run

So this weekend I gave myself a taste of what it would be like to join the military. Mariko, Stephanie, Lindsay and I all participated in the Mather field Mud Run as a team. I had been looking forward to it for weeks but was extremely nervous when it came time to dive into the mud pit! We had a great time. The "course" consisted of a 1 mile loop with with obstacles such as hay bails, walls, tunnels, tires and of course the famous mud pit! We did the 5 mile team so we all stuck together and kicked but. There is nothing more I can say to describe the experience so I have included pictures for your viewing pleasure! Before the race. Dry and clean! The first dip into the mud pit. We did this 5 times!Lindsay, me and Stephanie running through tires. Team "We Love Mud" crossing the finish line.Gross! Ready for a shower!

Bella's Special Day

So today was Bella's first birthday! She has grown up so fast I can't believe she is not a puppy anymore. I wanted to plan a party but with Gerrit just getting home late last night it wasn't going to happen. So instead we took her to PetSmart where she got to pick out a bone and a new collar. Here is a run through of our last year with Bella! Bringing her home from the Breeder.
First time to Tahoe in the snow. Christmas 2006 And then she grew to this size almost overnight She loves the boat and jumps right into the chilly waters of Tahoe Bella is a great hiker and loves wearing her backpack! Happy Birthday Bella!

No longer a virgin

Blogger that is. So for my first post this is going to be pretty lame. Just like my friday night, sitting at home with my dog creating a blog. Woohoooo, I can get crazy. And don't forget doing laundry. But I guess that's not a surprise, since Gerrit says I do laundry 24-7. Why he would complain about something like that boggles my mind. Really, is there an issue with having clean under roo's everyday.

Walking in the footsteps of my great friend Lorissa, here is my first grateful Friday...

I am grateful for...

Going to the Presentation Fall Festival tomorrow morning and buying my pumpkins so I can start decorating the house for Halloween.

Working out early tomorrow and getting it over with for that day.

Bella is turning 1 on Sunday and has turned out to be a great dog. I love her so much!

Gerrit coming home safe from Seattle on Saturday.

Have a good weekend!
